How to Stream Alternative Rock Radio
Streaming radio technology allows music to be constantly sent to your computer from the Internet in a real-time data transfer. To stream an alternative rock radio station, you will need to have a stable and fast Internet connection, preferably broadband. You may also want to have some form of media player installed on your computer such as Winamp, Windows Media Player or iTunes. While many streaming radio stations do offer the ability to listen through the computer's browser, if you accidentally shut down the browser window, you'll shut off the radio station, too. Having your own media player prevents this.

1
Go to a website that hosts alternative rock radio or acts as a real-time directory for alternative rock radio stations. You can use sites such as Live 365, MyTuner or Shoutcast Radio Directory.com.
-
2
Choose "Alternative" or "Alternative Rock" from the list of musical genres provided on the site. This will provide you with a list of streaming alternative radio stations.
-
-
3
Click on the button next to the name of the radio station to launch the player. Depending on the website, the button may say "Tune In," "Listen" or look like an arrow. This will usually launch a pop-up window.
-

Choose your media player if the website allows. Some sites will offer you a choice between your own media player and a browser window player. Some sites automatically launch the browser window, though this can be changed if you register with the website and change your default media player.

Enjoy listening to the streaming alternative rock radio on your computer. If you don't like the selection of music on one station, you can try other stations in the list until you find one that plays the type of music you like most.
