Homemade Shampoo for Steam Carpet Cleaners
Instead of purchasing a commercial shampoo for a steam cleaner, you can make your own at home with inexpensive ingredients. Carpet needs to be cleaned with a shampoo cleaner to effectively remove dirt and debris. Commercial carpet cleaners contain harmful chemicals, and they are not good for the environment.

- 1 gallon warm water
- 1 gallon bucket
- 1/3 cup white vinegar
- 1/4 cup liquid dish soap
- 3 1/2 cups water
- 1/3 cup soap flakes
- 6 drops essential oil
- 2 tsp. washing soda

Pour 1 gallon of warm water into a gallon-sized bucket.

Add 1/3 cup of white vinegar and 1/4 cup of liquid dish soap. Stir to blend the vinegar and soap with the water.

Pour the mixture into the shampoo reservoir.
Scented Carpet Cleaner

Pour 3 1/2 cups of water into a saucepan. Place the pan on the stove top over medium-high heat and bring it to a boil.

Add 1/3 cup of soap flakes to the boiling water. Stir until the flakes dissolve.

Allow the water to cool to room temperature.

Add 6 drops of your preferred essential oil. Add 2 tsp. of washing soda and stir to dissolve both.

Pour the cleaning solution into the shampoo reservoir.
