How Can I Get a Work Permit for Being Underage?
Although there are many local employment companies that higher individuals at the age of 16, it is possible to gain employment starting at 14 years of age. Although this is considered underage one can be exempt from this rule through the aid of a work permit. The work permit states the child has legal permission to work for the individual or company. Without the work permit it is illegal to employ the underage child.

Stop by the main office of the school you currently attend. All school buildings have the authorization to give out work permits.

State the location you are applying to (or have received a job offer from). The secretary (usually in charge of filling out the underage information) writes the data down on the work permit card.

Sign the work permit card and take it with you to your employer. Have the employer sign the card, then return to the school office with the completed card.

Receive a copy of the work permit. You may want two copies, one for your personal records and a second for the employer. More than likely the employer wants one on file for legal reasons.
