How to Clean Smudges on Bare Wood Floor

Remove smudges from bare wood to keep it shining.

A bare wood floor is an attractive flooring option in many homes. The wood is resistant to most buildup and residue, however smudges do sometimes develop when a foot print, hand print or drop of food smears the floor's surface. For small smudges, hand clean with a cleaning rag. For larger smudges, use a mop to clean the area.

Things You'll Need

• Spray bottle
• Vinegar
• Dish soap
• Cleaning rag
• Mop

Instructions

1. Pour 2 cups water, 1 cup vinegar and 1 tbsp. liquid dish detergent into a spray bottle.

2. Spray the solution directly over the smudges.

3. Wipe each individual smudge off of the floor with a damp cleaning rag, or moisten a mop slightly with water and wipe over the entire flooring.

4. Repeat until all smudges are removed from the bare wood and allow the floor to air dry.
