No matter how careful you are, you will probably end up with a stain or two on your mattress at some point. Removing stains on your mattress can be a tedious job as you want to avoid getting your mattress overly wet. Use common supplies from home to remove mattress stains. Things You'll Need

  • Baking soda
  • Vacuum
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Sponge
  • Bucket
  • Measuring spoons
  • Mild dishwashing liquid
  • Clean towels
  • Fan

Instructions

      Sprinkle baking soda, liberally, on a new stain. The baking soda will wick up some of the moisture. Allow the baking soda to sit for 15 minutes, and then vacuum it off.

      Pour hydrogen peroxide on a clean sponge. Dab at the stain, working from the outside of the stain toward the center. Rinse out the sponge and add more hydrogen peroxide as the stain transfers to the sponge.

      Fill a bucket halfway with cool water. Add 2 tsp. mild dishwashing liquid. Stir with your hands to create soap suds.

      Dab at the stain using a damp sponge dipped in the soap suds only. Work from the outside of the stain toward the middle.

      Press clean towels against the area of your mattress that was stained. Wick up as much moisture from the cleaning process as possible.

      Air dry your mattress. Open a window, if possible, or turn on a fan to speed up the drying process.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep a waterproof cover over your mattress. If accidents occur, you will need to wash only the cover.

  • Avoid wiping or rubbing the stain this may spread the stain.
