Driveways see their fair share of stains. The most common stains on driveways are associated with motor vehicles. However, paint splatters can be found along driveways and inside garages. Removing old paint stains from your driveway can be accomplished with the help of a paint stripper. Before beginning the paint remove, test the stripper in an inconspicuous area of the driveway.   • Broom
  • Water hose
  • Paint stripper
  • Paint rolling pan
  • Long-handled paint roller
  • Paint scraper
  • Water
  • Mild dish-washing liquid
  • Bucket
  • Scrub brush

Instructions

    • 1

      Sweep the driveway with a broom to remove surface dirt and debris.

      Hose the driveway off using a water hose. Allow the driveway to air dry completely before continuing.

      Pour paint stripper into a paint rolling pan.

      Roll a long-handled paint roller into the pan. Saturate the paint roller with the paint thinner.

      Apply the paint thinner to the old stain with the roller.

      Allow the paint thinner to sit on the paint stain for the recommended time as stated on the manufacturer's directions.

      Scrape the old paint off the driveway using a paint scraper. If paint does not come off, repeat Steps 4, 5 and 6.

      Sweep the old paint up with a broom and dust pan. Discard the paint in a trash bag.

      Create a solution of 1 gallon of water and ¼ cup of a mild dish-washing liquid.

      Saturate a scrub brush in the solution. Scrub the area where the paint stain was located to remove any residue left behind from the paint stripper.

      Rinse the driveway off with the water hose and allow to air dry.
