Instructions

    • 1

Clean the rug. Run a vacuum over the top of the rug multiple times to remove all dirt and debris as well as any loose fibers. Painting works best on woven rugs like jute or sisal. Choose a rectangular rug similar in shape to a football field.

    • 2

Tape your design on the rug. Create a border to outline the rug and add end zones to each end of the rug.

    • 3

Measure the length from the start of the end zone on one end to the start of the end zone on the other end. Find the middle of these two points. Place a piece of tape across the middle for the 50-yard line.

    • 4

Measure from the middle of the carpet (the 50-yard line) to one end-zone. Divide this measurement by five. Measure five sections, starting from the 50-yard line, in this increment. Place a piece of tape across the rug at each point. These are the 10-yard markers. Repeat in the other direction.

    • 5

Saturate your paint roller with green paint. Paint the rug to completely cover the entire surface. Apply a light coat and allow the paint to dry. Add more coats to deepen the color. Allow the rug to dry completely.

    • 6

Pull up the tape. Paint the tape lines with white paint using a trim brush. Fill in the tape lines completely. Allow the paint to dry.
