      Take the candle out of the votive, and put the votive in a freezer.

      Leave the votive in the freezer for three hours.

      Take the votive out of the freezer, and chip off the wax with a screwdriver, being careful not to scratch the votive.

      Wait for the votive to warm back to room temperature on its own.

      Fill a large bowl with warm water and one teaspoon liquid dish soap.

      Place the room temperature votive in the water and scrub off any remaining bits of wax with a sponge.
