Most problems with an iPod Nano battery charger can be easily fixed.

If your iPod Nano battery isn't charging efficiently, the problem could be the computer, the charging cable or the device itself. You can likely fix the problem by troubleshooting. At worst, you'll have to buy a new USB cable. Sometimes, though, the Nano's hardware malfunctions and you'll need professional help.

Instructions

    • 1

Eject any external devices plugged into your computer, including flash drives and printers. Test the iPod to see if it will charge (you will do this after every step below).

    • 2

      Restart your computer.

    • 3

Reset your iPod. Flick the Hold switch on and off, then simultaneously hold down the center and menu buttons until the Apple logo appears.

    • 4

Try using another iPod cable on the same computer. Hopefully, you can borrow one from a family member or friend. If a different cable works, you need to replace your USB cable.

    • 5

Try another computer (using the original cable). If it works, your computer needs repair.

    • 6

Take your iPod Nano to an Apple Store or service center. If none of the previous steps worked, the problem is likely a hardware issue that requires professional expertise.
