Internet history is stored so that you know where you've been and what you've been doing online. However, it can also take up space or be incriminating. If you would like to clear your Gmail Internet history or change other history settings within Gmail, you can do this easily within the program. You can keep history for longer than the default, get rid of history sooner, or change which things appear in your history within Gmail.

Instructions

    • 1

      Open your Gmail inbox.

    • 2

Click on "Settings." Then choose "Accounts and Imports" and "Change Account Settings." In the Advanced Settings, you can change your history settings.

    • 3

Scroll through the lists of options in both the Advanced Settings as well as in the Chat section of the settings menu. Change options as you wish. Some history options you might decide to change include how long items remain in your history, how often the history is emptied, and which sites are not stored in your history. You can also change password saving options.
