Items you will need
Installed version of Call of Duty: World at War PC Version
Existing Profile
Windows Vista or Windows XP
By changing your Call of Duty: World at War profile name, you can log into the online multiplayer under a different name but still keep your rank and achievements. Creating a new profile within the game will not transfer over your rank, so in order to ensure your time didn't go to waste, you will need to manually edit the profile outside of the game.
Load up Call of Duty: World at War from your desktop icon or start menu and select \"Multiplayer\" from the game menu.
Create a new profile name but keep your old one. Create the new profile with the name that you would like to change your old profile to.
Exit the game and return to your Windows Desktop.
Open up Windows Explorer and navigate to your Windows profile by typing %USERPROFILE% into the address bar.
Inside your Windows profile, navigate to the players folder, which differs based on which operating system you are on. For XP, navigate to \"Local Settings\Application Data\Activision\CoDWaW\players\profiles.\" For Vista, navigate to \"AppData\Local\Activision\CoDWaW\players\profiles.\"
Within the profiles folder, open the folder labeled with your old profile name. Inside this folder, select all files by pressing CTRL + A and then copy by pressing CTRL + C. Navigate back to the profiles folder by pressing the \"Back\" button in the Windows Explorer window.
Within the profiles folder, open the folder labeled with your new profile name. Inside this folder, paste the copied files by pressing CTRL + V. Navigate back to the profiles folder by pressing the \"Back\" button in the Windows Explorer window.
Inside the profiles folder, open the file \"active.txt\" and replace the old profile name with that of your new profile name. Save the \"active.txt\" file and close Windows Explorer.
Load up Call of Duty: World at War from your desktop icon or start menu and select \"Multiplayer\" from the game menu. Your new profile should load with all of your old profile data.
Tips
You may need to enable hidden files in order to view the profile data (see Resources).
Warnings
Your friends list from your old profile will not transfer over to your new profile.
