The Nintendo DSi Browser developed by Opera is a popular mobile browser with more than 50 million users worldwide, according to figures released in February 2010. It is available for both the standard Nintendo DS and the Nintendo DS Lite. The browser often is pre-loaded onto new Nintendo DS standard and Lite systems, but if your system is without the browser, adding the application takes just moments.

      Select the "Nintendo DSi Shop" button, which looks like a shopping bag, from the home screen. If this is your first time using the Nintendo DSi Shop, you will be presented with a series of license agreements that you will need to consent to before proceeding. Once you have navigated those agreements, you will reach the Nintendo DSi Shop home screen.

      Select the button labeled "Web" to view the Nintendo DSi Browser product page.

      Select the word "Free" to begin downloading the Nintendo DSi Browser.

      Select "Yes" to confirm that you wish to download the Nintendo DSi Browser, and it will install to your Nintendo DS. You can access the browser from your Nintendo DS Lite's home screen.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have not set up your Nintendo DS Wi-Fi capabilities, doing so is easy. From the home screen, select the "Settings" icon, which looks like a wrench, then tap to the third page of settings. Select "Internet." Select an empty connection, and from there, you can search for an access point and connect to secured or unsecured networks.

  • The Nintendo DS can only connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi.
