How to Troubleshoot Windows Mobile 5 & Internet Explorer

The Windows Mobile 5 operating system is used for many smartphones, including the original Motorola Q and the Samsung BlackJack. One component of Windows Mobile 5 is an integrated Internet Explorer browser. If you are having issues with your browser, you can try several troubleshooting steps.

Instructions

1. Clear the browser's cache and history. The Internet browser on your phone stores data from the sites you visit frequently. Too much stored information can slow the browser. Pull up the menu when you launch the browser and select the "Options" menu followed by "Memory." Highlight "Temporary Files" and then select "Delete."

2. Close the browser and reset. If your browser is constantly freezing, a reset may be your best alternative. Simply press your phone's power button to turn it off and then turn it on again. If this "soft reset" doesn't fix the problem, pull out the battery to perform a "hard reset."

3. Sync the phone with your computer. If your software has been corrupted or a downloaded component is interfering with your browser's normal operation, perform the sync operation to return the device to its original settings before the data irregularity.

4. Move to an area with better network access. If your phone is displaying a low amount of reception, your Internet browser may not work effectively. Move outdoors, or close to a window to improve the signal, then try again.
