How to Repair the Pump on a GE Dishwasher
Repairing the pump on a GE dishwasher is a fairly simple project you can complete in about an hour. Occasionally, the pump connector develops a leak, which causes the pump to stop working properly. Replacing the connector repairs the pump problem and restores the dishwasher to its normal operation. Flip the breaker switch for the GE dishwasher off at the breaker box before attempting to repair the pump.

Open the dishwasher. Remove the lower dish rack from the unit, and locate the bolt at the top of the spray arm assembly.

Remove the bolt from the top of the spray arm assembly with a socket wrench, and lift the assembly out of the dishwasher.

Vacuum out any water standing in the bottom of the dishwasher with a shopvac, and dry the dishwasher with a towel.

Unscrew the clamps that hold the pump in place on the bottom of the dishwasher with a screwdriver, and lift the pump up so you can access the hoses.

Unfasten the clamps around the hoses that are attached to the pump. Unscrew the clamps with a screwdriver, and pull the hoses off the pump.

Locate the pump connector that sits on top of the pump, and unfasten the connector by loosening the clamp that holds it on the pump with a screwdriver.

Attach a new pump connector to the top of the pump with a screwdriver. Place the hoses back on the pump, and tighten the clamps around the hoses.

Set the pump back in position in the bottom of the dishwasher, and reattach the spray arm assembly. Secure the spray arm assembly bolt with a socket wrench.

Place the lower dish rack in the dishwasher, and flip the breaker switch for the GE dishwasher back on at the breaker box.
