Homemade Clear Screen Protection for an iPod Touch

The iPod Touch has a touch-sensitive screen that controls all of its functions. You can quickly make a homemade clear screen protector for the iPod Touch that will keep fingerprints and dirt from fouling the screen with a few household supplies. You will still be able to activate the touch-sensitive screen by touching it, even though you have placed protection over it.

Things You'll Need

  • Compressed air

Instructions

    • 1

Put a soft cloth on a table. Put the iPod Touch face up on the soft cloth. Blow off the iPod Touch with the compressed air.

    • 2

Tear off a piece of plastic wrap that is wider than the iPod Touch. Place one end of the plastic wrap at the top edge of the iPod Touch’s screen.

    • 3

Pull the other end of the piece of plastic wrap down to the bottom edge of the iPod Touch.

    • 4

Carefully cut off any excess length from the piece of plastic wrap that is at the bottom edge of the iPod Touch with the safety scissors. Remove the piece of plastic wrap from the iPod Touch.

    • 5

Place the end of the plastic wrap back onto the top edge of the iPod Touch’s screen. Smooth the piece of plastic wrap onto the top edge of the iPod Touch screen with your fingers.

    • 6

Pull the piece of plastic wrap down the length of the iPod Touch. Smooth down the piece of plastic wrap with your fingers.

    • 7

Place one end of the thin cardboard down on the plastic wrap where it meets the top edge of the iPod Touch. Push the thin cardboard down to the bottom of the iPod Touch to remove any air bubbles.

    • 8

Wrap the excess plastic wrap that is on the left and right sides of the iPod Touch toward the back. Smooth down the plastic wrap that is on both sides of the iPod Touch with your fingers. Repeat the process to further smooth the plastic wrap on the sides of the iPod Touch.

Tips & Warnings

  • Wear cotton gloves to keep from getting fingerprints on the plastic wrap.

  • Air bubbles will get between the screen of the iPod Touch and the plastic wrap if you do not smooth it down carefully.
