    • 5

Place floor protectors under furniture legs and heavy objects. This will prevent scratches and keep indentations from forming on the floor.

    • 6

Avoid walking on the floor with spiked golf shoes, cleats or stiletto heels. These types of shoes can cause scratches or indentations on the floor. If you have pets, keep their nails trimmed to prevent their nails from scratching the floor.

    • 8

Use a dehumidifier in the home. Keep the relatively humidity level inside of the house between 45 and 65 percent. This will reduce the amount of contraction and expansion of the wood.
