How to Remove Listings From Google Maps

The Google Maps listing for your business is a free marketing tool. Google publishes business listings with images and allows business owners to add and maintain their own listings. When a potential customer searches for your business, she will find all the information you provide to Google, from a picture of your storefront to your business hours and accepted payment methods. If your business is closing or you no longer wish to be listed in the Google search engine, you can delete your business listing from the Google Places database.

Instructions

1. Log in to Google Places (see Resources) using the email address and password you created when you added the listing to Google.

2. Locate the “Actions” menu on the far right side of the screen for the listing you want to remove.

3. Click the “Delete” link in the “Actions” menu for that listing. Click the radio button beside the option to remove the listing from the Google Maps display.

4. Verify your selection by clicking the confirmation link. Click “Save Changes” to process the deletion. Your listing will be removed from Google Maps within a few hours.
