How to Become an eBay Store
If you sell frequently on eBay, or if you just want to access an online retail platform that will allow you to reach an established market with your product, you may have considered opening an eBay store. For a small monthly fee, you can operate your own custom store with personalized designs and layouts, with automated uploading tools and no advanced web design knowledge required. Even if you already use other avenues for reaching customers, an eBay store can give you even greater exposure.

1
Register for an eBay seller account if you do not already have one. Visit eBay.com and click "Register" at the top of the page. Try to choose the name of your business as your username, or choose a username that closely resembles the name of your business if you cannot register the exact name.
-
2
Convert your eBay account to a seller account. Hover your mouse over the "Sell" link in the upper right portion of the home page and select "Sell an Item" from the drop-down menu. eBay will prompt you to place a credit card on file. Fill in each box accurately and click "Continue" to activate your seller privileges. You cannot sell any merchandise on eBay if you do not have a credit card on file.

3
Hover your mouse over the "Sell" link in the upper right portion of the home page and select "eBay Stores" from the drop-down menu.
-
4
Click the "Subscribe" button at the bottom of your page.
-
5
Choose a subscription level. As someone just starting out with an eBay store, you will most likely need only the basic store, which costs $15.95 per month, but you can also choose a more expensive "Premium" or "Anchor" store for more features, all of which you will see listed on the page. eBay will also ask you to choose a name for your store before continuing. Type your name in the box near the bottom of the page and click "Continue."
-
6
Begin designing your store. On the next page, eBay will provide you with a user-friendly editor for choosing a color scheme, which users will see when they click on any of your items for sale. Choose a color scheme that fits the personality of your store. For example, someone who sells soaps might choose pastel colors, while someone operating a gothic T-shirt store might choose a very dark color scheme. Click "Continue" after you finish choosing your color scheme.
-
7
Write a description for your store. Make your description short and inviting, with basic information about the type of merchandise in which you specialize along with any other necessary information.
-
8
Upload graphics from your computer. eBay will allow you to further customize your layout by uploading personal graphics, such as colorful banners with your store name or images with your logo. Click the boxes provided to browse your hard drive for photos that you would like to upload to your store. Click "Continue" after you finish customizing your store.
-
9
Begin adding merchandise to your store. Upload items the same as you would with traditional auctions, by clicking the "Sell" link at the top of your eBay browser and entering all of your information as eBay prompts you to do so.
