How to Eliminate Microsoft Internet Explorer Pop-Ups

Pop-ups are extra windows that launch when you visit certain websites. The majority of them are annoying advertisements that display everything from shopping sprees to movie sales. These advertisements slow down your browser's speed and performance. If you're using Internet Explorer as your browser, you can eliminate these nuisances by using IE's built-in pop-up blocker.

      Click the "Tools" menu located on the top of your browser window and select "Pop-up Blocker." Click the "Turn on Po-up Blocker" option to turn on the pop-up blocker and Internet Explorer will block pop-up advertisements.

      Adjust your pop-up blocker settings by clicking the "Tools" menu, selecting "Pop-up Blocker" and clicking "Pop-up Blocker Settings." Select the blocking level that you want to use and (low, medium or high). You can select the option to play a sound if you want Internet Explorer to notify you when it blocks a pop-up.

      Type in the URL addresses of the websites that you want to allow pop-ups for in the "Address of website to allow" box. Click "Add."

      Navigate to the website with a pop-up if you want to see a pop-up that Internet Explorer blocked. Click the information bar when it notifies you that a pop-up window has been blocked. Click "Show blocked pop-up" to view the pop-up.
