      Backup all files from your Dell 9300. All files will be erased during the reinstallation process. Use an external hard drive, flash drive, DVDs or CDs as your backup media.

      Insert the Windows XP installation disk in your disk drive.

      Restart your computer and press any key to boot from the CD when prompted. If you are not prompted, restart your computer again and press the “F12” key during the boot process. Select “CD-ROM” from the menu.

      Press “Enter” to reinstall Windows XP.

      Press “F8” to agree to the licensing agreement.

      Select your main or largest partition, which is typically C.

      Select “Format the partition using the NTFS file system” when prompted.

      After your Dell 9300 reboots, press “Next” on the “Regional and Language Options” screen.

      Type a name and organization into the boxes on the “Personalize Your Software” screen.

      Type a name for your computer, if desired, on the “Computer Name” screen. Type a password if desired.

      Enter the date, time and time zone on the “Date and Time Settings” screen.

      Select your network settings on the “Networking Settings” screen. For most users, “Typical” provides the best settings.

      Allow the reinstallation to complete. After your Dell 9300 reboots, the installation is complete.

Tips & Warnings

  • The reinstallation process takes approximately 90 minutes to two hours to complete.

  • Never disconnect your computer from its power source during this process. This will corrupt the operating system.
