How to Mount a Scope on a Weaver Base

Having your firearm equipped with a Weaver scope base allows you to easily attach a scope to your weapon. Weaver scope bases work well with rifles and shotguns; they are commonly pre-installed on military-type weapons. Attaching a scope to a Weaver-style base requires Weaver-scope rings and an Allen wrench (usually included with rings). Mounting a scope on a Weaver-style base is an easy procedure that you can do without the assistance of a gunsmith.

Instructions

    • 1

Attach the scope rings with the Allen wrench, but do not tighten the screws all the way (the scope should be able to move).

    • 2

Unscrew the mounting screws at the base of the rings and widen the mounting bracket. Align the mounting screws with the slots cutting across the base and tighten (securing the mounting bracket on both sides of the base).

    • 3

Adjust the scope (along the length of the rifle) so that you have sufficient eye relief and a clear scope image. Rotate the scope so the reticles appear straight up and straight across when viewed.

    • 4

Once your scope is positioned, tighten the rear set of screws and re-check the scope position. If necessary, loosen the screws and adjust the scope.

    • 5

Tighten the remaining screws. Your scope is now mounted.
