How to Clean Cat Urine From Wood
Your cat may have had an accident on a wood floor in your home. Cat urine, when left untreated, can leave behind stains and foul odors that can be very difficult to remove from a wood floor. You can purchase cleaners to remove cat urine, but these may stain or otherwise damage the wood. Instead, use a common household liquid to remove odors and stains caused by cat urine.
Things You'll Need
- Paper towels or cloth
- White distilled vinegar
- Spray bottle
- Wash cloths or similar cloths
- Book or similar heavy item

1
Dry the cat urine from the wood as soon as you notice the urine. Blot the wood with paper towels or a cloth. Do not rub the wood, however, as you may scratch the wood or rub the urine stain into the wood.
-
2
Pour roughly 1 cup of white distilled vinegar and 2 cups of warm water into a clean spray bottle. You can adjust these amounts, depending on the amount of cat urine on the wood.

3
Spray the water and vinegar solution on the wood covering the entire stain.
-
4
Leave the water and vinegar on the wood for about five minutes.
-
5
Place a wash cloth or other cloth onto the wood. Then, place a book or similar heavy object onto the cloth so that the cloth absorbs the vinegar solution. Leave the cloth on the wood for about an hour.
-
6
Remove the cloth from the wood. Inspect the wood and repeat the cleaning process, if necessary.
