When you have an email address, there is always a chance of receiving a message from someone you do not wish to contact. In addition, even careful people can send email to others unintentionally. But you can prevent emails from certain people from arriving in your in-box, and you can also block certain addresses from receiving your messages. These steps will help ensure your privacy online.

Instructions

  1. Bock Sender

      Open your email program and click "Options" or "Address Book" and then "Options."

      Find the tab in your options menu labeled "Block Senders" or "Block Email Addresses."

      Input the email addresses you would like to block and click "Block" or "OK."

    Block Recipient

      Block people from receiving your messages in the most obvious way--eliminate them from your address book and do not send messages to them.

      Open your email options and see whether there is an option for blocking a recipient. Most programs have this option, which keeps you from accidentally using a function like "Reply All" to send a message to someone with whom you do not want to have communication.

      Input the email address into the email blocker and click "Block."
