A plastic pet bowl such as this is easily cleaned.

Part of the responsibility of owning a pet feline involves providing it with fresh water and food in clean bowls. Your cat shouldn't have to lap his water from a contaminated bowl. Before you refill your cat's plastic water bowl, clean it properly. This will help reduce bacterial growth and also keep the water tasting fresh.

Things You'll Need

Hold the plastic cat bowl under warm, running water to wet it and scrub the entire bowl with the scrubbing sponge or brush.

    • 3

Rinse the bowl completely under warm, running water for approximately a minute to make sure the soap residue is completely gone.

    • 4

Dry the bowl with a paper towel and fill with cool, clean water before replacing the bowl in your cat's drinking area.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't use any harsh chemicals when cleaning your cat's plastic bowl. Chemical residue may remain on the bowl.

  • Avoid using abrasive scrubbers or brushes on the plastic. They could scratch the plastic and leave crevices to harbor bacteria.
