Instructions

    • 1

Sprinkle a cup of salt liberally across the bottom of the dishwasher.

    • 2

Empty two trays of ice cubes into the bottom of the dishwasher. This will help lower the temperature in the dishwasher, which will reduce the suds.

    • 3

Turn the timer on the dishwasher slowly until you hear the motor stop. When the motor starts again, the drain cycle begins.

    • 4

Let the dishwasher finish the drain cycle, then use towels to soak up any remaining suds.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can use salt for any type of defoaming. If you have too much foam in the sink, simply toss a handful of salt into the basin and stir with a spoon.

  • If your washing machine is overflowing, pour salt straight from the container to stanch some of those suds before they get out of control.
