1
Remove the lint catcher. Depending on the model of your GE dryer, there are two possible places to find your lint catcher and a different method for removing each one. The first is located on the back wall inside the dryer. To remove it, place your thumb and index finger in the holes and pull the lint catcher toward you. The second type of lint catcher is located immediately inside the dryer by the door. To remove it, grab the top of the lint catcher and pull upward.

2
Remove lint from the lint catcher. The first type of lint catcher holds the lint within a canister. Pull the canister open, then peel away the lint and discard it in the trash. The second type of lint catcher is a long screen. Peel the lint off the screen and throw it away. Removing the lint before using the dryer will allow the clothes to dry quicker and more thoroughly.

3
Return the lint catcher. Place the lint catcher back from where you removed it. Make sure your lint catcher, no matter which type, is securely locked into place.
-
4
Place the wet clothes in the dryer. If you didn't use fabric softener in the washing process, add a dryer sheet to soften your clothes and reduce static.
-
5
Select an appropriate drying cycle. Different types of clothes require different drying cycles. For towels and linens, use the high heat cycle. For delicate clothes, use the delicate or fluff air cycle. For normal clothing, use the permanent press (low heat) cycle to avoid shrinkage. Turn on the dryer.
-
6
If the clothes feel dry, remove the laundry after the dry cycle has finished. If the laundry is still damp, set the timer for 10 to 15 minutes or more, and turn on the dryer again.
-
7
When the drying cycle ends and the laundry feels dry, remove your clothing from the dryer immediately and hang or fold the clothes, to keep them from wrinkling and reduce the amount of ironing you'll have to do.
