Sugaring is a type of hair removal that has been practiced in North and East Africa for hundreds of years. It is even said that the method was used by Cleopatra. Ancient Egyptians kept themselves clean and odor-free through hair removal; they devised this method, which contains all natural ingredients. Similar to waxing, the sugaring substance adheres only to the hair and not the skin, making it a less painful process. You can make sugaring solution at home for very little cost. Things You'll Need

  • 1 Lemon
  • 1 Cup sugar
  • 1/4 Cup honey
  • Microwaveable bowl with lid
  • Fork

Instructions

      Cut lemon in half. Squeeze on half of the lemon into your bowl, getting out as much juice as you are able.

      Mix the sugar in with the juice in the bowl. This should be lumpy in texture. Add the honey and stir with the fork until mixture is smooth.

      Microwave on high for one minute. The mixture should be thick enough to spread on the skin for the sugaring treatment. If it is not warm, it should be heated for another minute. If it is runny, it should be allowed to cool for one minute.

Tips & Warnings

  • Store the solution in your refrigerator and reheat to reuse at another time. For best results your hair should be 1/4 to six millimeters long.
