How to Identify Imitation Coach Purses thumbnail
Spotting fake purses can be a hassle.

Identifying an imitation Coach purse is not always easy. People who manufacture these fake Coach purses are out to make a quick buck and are very good at convincing consumers that their products are real. While you will sometimes see imitation Coach purses being sold on the street, it is more common nowadays to see these products on online auction sites like eBay. There are a few tricks to spotting an imitation Coach purse. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Look for the signature C. Coach purses almost always have a pattern made up of the letter C. The tips of the Cs are always touching on a true Coach purse. The pattern is always continuous and does not switch positions due to seaming. If the exterior of the purse has the pattern, the interior will not. Likewise, if the exterior does not have the signature pattern, then the interior will have it. Beware of a similar pattern containing the letter G. That is always a dead giveaway that it's an imitation Coach purse.

Check the stitching. A real Coach purse will have flawless stitching. Coach does not manufacture poorly made products and they take pride in their work. An imitation Coach purse may have sloppy stitching. There may be instances of over-stitching, too. All stitches should be identical in length and spacing.

Feel the material. Every Coach purse that contains leather will be made only of the highest quality leather. The purse will not feel stiff and will bend relatively easy when touched. Inside the purse there should be verification that it has been made with genuine leather.

Check for a serial number. This is the easiest way to know if a Coach purse is real. The serial number can be found inside the purse stamped onto a leather patch. Enter the serial number in on the Coach website and a description of the exact product will be displayed. Note, however, that bags made in the 1960s did not contain serial numbers.
