How to Pull Nails Out of Concrete

When laying concrete in the ground, nails often hold the concrete blocks in place. When remodeling is taking place, it may be necessary to remove these nails for the rebuilding process. Nails secured in concrete are similar to nails that are in any other type of surface except that they are secured in place much tighter. The process to remove nails from concrete is essentially the same as any other surface, however it requires significantly more time and energy to do properly. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Place the clawed end of the hammer through the nail head and directly against the concrete. Make sure there is no space between the concrete and the head of the nail.

    • 2

Add a block of scrap wood underneath the hammer to provide additional leverage for the pulling of the nail if necessary. If there is too much space between the clawed end of the hammer and the ground, the nail will not pull out of place.

    • 3

Use one hand to hold the hammer and place the other hand against the concrete floor. Pull up in a strong and steady motion until the nail begins to move. If the nail is not moving out of place in a steady manner, twist the nail from left to right to loosen it's hold in the concrete. Continue until the nail is completely removed from the floor.
