1
Blot up the urine with a paper towel. Use your hand to press down on the paper towel to get as much of the liquid up as possible.
-
2
Pour 1/4 cup of water on a small urine spot and 1/2 cup on a large urine spot. As the water soaks into the spot, place a thick towel down and stand on it to absorb the water. The water will dilute the urine so that the smell is minimized. Make sure that you get almost all of the water out of the carpet.

Leave the towel on the spot for about six hours. Instead of standing on it this long, use something heavy to put weight on the towel to soak any leftover water and vinegar out of the carpet.
