This detoxification process happens little by little as the lemon water becomes a part of a daily routine. The basic lemon water detox drink can be naturally sweetened to make it more palatable or customized to give it a spicy kick. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Pour the freshly squeezed lemon juice into a large mug and add hot water to the desired amount. The water should be around 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Adding more water reduces the taste of the lemon.

    • 2

Sweeten the lemon water with real maple syrup a little at a time until you achieve the desired balance of sweet and sour. Sweetener can be left out if you do not mind the sour taste of the lemon juice. A small pinch of cayenne adds enough capsicum to the drink to increase the body's metabolism and speed the detoxification process. Cayenne is very spicy and should be used in moderation. Stir the lemon water.

    • 3

Drink the lemon water at the same time each day in order to establish a routine. Effects of the lemon water detox drink, such as increased energy and moderate weight loss, occur after 2 to 6 weeks of regular lemon-water detoxing.

Tips & Warnings

  • Replacing creamy sweet morning coffee with hot lemon water will quickly reduce your average daily caloric intake.

  • Consult your doctor before making any major or permanent changes to your diet.
