Instructions

    • 1

Spray post-emergent herbicide or corn gluten around your yard in spots where crabgrass roots have developed. These products can be bought at your local home improvement store. Corn gluten is preferred, since it will not only kill crabgrass seedlings but is organic and will fertilize healthy grass. Post-emergent herbicides should only be used if you know the exact location of crabgrass roots.

Pull out fully grown crabgrass shoots by the roots. Simply pulling up the blades is not enough, since itwill just grow again.

    • 3

Dig under crabgrass blades with the spade if they have deep roots. Some crabgrass roots can be very deep and digging with the spade will allow you to pull them up. You can also pry thick roots up with the spade or a shovel. Throw away all crabgrass in a dumpster or trash can.
