YouTube is one of the most popular Web sites. The site allows users to upload and share videos from all over the world. To save YouTube videos, you can create a YouTube account and save your favorite videos to your Favorites list, copy the direct-link URL into a Web page, e-mail or add it to your browser's Favorites menu, or lastly, you can download the video using a special downloading software. There are many YouTube downloading software programs available. Some popular ones are VDownloader, Youtube Grabber and RealPlayer Downloader.

      Install VDownloader on your system. This software allows you to browse the YouTube Web site inside the software interface. Just select YouTube from the "Web" tab. When you find a video you want to download to your computer, select the download arrow symbol that appears above every YouTube video. The video will then save to your computer. Further, you can select conversion options so that the video will be compatible with and transferable to devices such as an iPod or PSP.

      Browse the YouTube Web site, click on a video you want to download and copy the direct-link code beside the video. Launch the Youtube Grabber software and paste the YouTube video's URL into the URL field. Then just click the "Download" button, and the software will download the video to your computer.

      Download RealPlayer SP, which has the RealPlayer Downloader feature. This software integrates itself into your Web browser and allows you to download most videos on the Web and all videos on YouTube. Browse the YouTube Web site. Once you find a video you want to download, select the "Download" option above the video. The software will download the video to your computer and save it in the default "RealPlayer Downloads" folder located in your "My Videos" folder. The software also comes bundled with RealPlayer Converter. Once your YouTube video is downloaded, launch RealPlayer Converter, drag the video into the interface and select a conversion option so you can transfer the video to other mediums, such as iPhone or Sony Walkman.
