How to Replace Tabs With Spaces

Microsoft Word (2007) includes a feature called "Find and Replace." This feature allows you to replace all occurrences of a word or a phrase in a document with a different word or phrase. This feature can save you substantial time as you no longer have to scroll through the entire document replacing each word or phrase manually. In addition to words and phrases, you can replace tabs with spaces.

  • Open Microsoft Word.

  • Click on the "Home" tab in the top left corner of the window.

  • Click on "Replace" in the top right corner. The "Find and Replace" window will open.

  • Click "More" and then check the box next to "Use Wildcards."

  • Type "^t" (without the quotation marks) in the "Find What" box.

  • Type "^s" (without the quotation marks) in the "Replace With" box.

  • Click "Replace All." Microsoft Word will automatically replace all of tabs with spaces.
