How to Learn Creole Online
Creole is a language spoken by inhabitants of the island of Haiti, as well as Martinique and French Guyana. Creole derives from a mixture of languages, most notably French, Spanish and Portuguese. No one knows the origin of Creole, although it is noted that the language was first recognized around 500 years ago. Creole is also spelled Criol, Kreyol, Kriol and Krio. The majority of Creole speakers in Haiti also speak fluent French.

1
Download Haitian Creole learning software. Several programs are available to use online to learn how to speak and understand Creole. Most of these programs are free and are fully interactive. Not only will you learn to pronounce the words and phrases correctly, but you will be learning by listening to a native speaker, while also reading it. The program is downloaded to your PC, and you can use it as many times as you wish.

2
Go to a language exchange website. It is a forum site that allows native speakers of a certain language to communicate with people who want to learn that language. Here, you can speak with people who speak Haitian Creole and ask them to either translate sentences for you or to look over things that you have written. Some of these websites also enable voice chat so that you can hear each other (see the resources section).

3
Sign up for a language course online. Much like an actual classroom, you will have a teacher and several opportunities to ask questions as you learn Creole. You will be learning Creole from the beginning (alphabets and numbers) to the more advanced conversational Creole. You will be given quizzes and tests as you go along, and they will be graded before you are able to move onto the next lesson. Some of these courses offer certificates or diplomas upon completion of the course.

4
Learn Creole by watching videos. Websites such as YouTube, Google Video or Metcafe offer free videos for people to watch all around the world. You will find several videos that teach you Creole phrases or Creole language lessons step by step.
