Obtaining an Ein Number in Arizona
According to the Arizona Department of Commerce, an Employer Identification Number (EIN) is required for most businesses operating in the United States, including those in Arizona. This is the way the IRS identifies businesses in the U.S. The IRS has streamlined the process for you, making it simple to obtain an EIN in just a few steps.

Log on to the Internal Revenue Service's Employer Identification Number page. Complete the application for obtaining an EIN, called form SS-4.

Send the application, using the method of your choice. The IRS prefers you to apply for an EIN online, but keep in mind that the online assistant is only available between 6 a.m. and 12:30 a.m. Eastern time Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays, and 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Sundays.
You can also apply by fax, phone or mail, so consider your time frame and decide which method is going to work for you. If you complete the form online, you will get your EIN right away. You can also mail the form to:

If you provide a return fax number, the IRS will fax you your EIN within four days. You can also request an EIN by phone by calling the Business & Specialty Tax Line at:

The phone service is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. local time, Monday through Friday. You can get your EIN the same day if you follow this method.

Register your EIN with the Arizona Department of Revenue, after you've received the number from the IRS. According to the Department of Revenue, you must register if you plan to file withholding returns for your employees. You can register online by filling out the Arizona Joint Tax Application at the Arizona Department of Revenue site, or print the form from the site and mail it to:
