Stainless steel is a popular choice for cookware because it is generally durable and easy to care for. That said, even stainless steel can fall victim to baked-on grease from time to time. Fortunately, you can get baked-on grease off stainless steel cookware with a few things from your cupboard and a little elbow grease.
Things You'll Need
- Dish soap
- Measuring cup
- Scrub brush
Bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Pour the water into a clean dishpan.
Measure 1 cup of vinegar. Add the vinegar to the dishpan of boiling water. Mix the vinegar and water together with a spoon until they are well blended.
Submerge stainless steel items with baked-on grease into the dishpan of hot water and vinegar. Make sure the items are completely covered.
Allow the stainless steel items to soak in the vinegar and water solution for about 20 minutes. Stir the items around in the dishpan midway through soaking.
Dump the vinegar and water from the dishpan. Refill the dishpan with warm water and add a few drops of dish soap.
Scrub the baked-on grease spots with the scrub brush and sponge while the stainless steel item is submerged in the soapy water.
Remove the stainless steel item from the soapy water. Hold it under a stream of cold water and rinse it clean.
