How to Scan 35mm Slides for a PC
Scanning your 35-mm slides into a computer can digitize your collection of family and personal photographs, allowing you to save multiple backup copies of your files to insulate you against loss. This can be accomplished by using a scanner equipped to deal with slides. In general, the process can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours, depending on the number of slides you are scanning.

Open the scanner and arrange the slides according to the appropriate template for your model of scanner.

Close the scanner and press the "Scan" button.

Open the scanning program on your computer and select the option to scan "Slides or Positives."

Select the option to save your slides to "File."

Click on the location where you wish to store your scanned file(s) and press "OK."

Tips & Warnings
Use a light shield if you are scanning fewer than the maximum number of slides. The shield, which blocks light from entering the scan, should come with your scanner.
