The Auto Account Setup Wizard uses Internet access to configure Outlook.

Unlike Yahoo! Mail, Windows Live Hotmail does not require its members to pay a subscription fee to use email client programs, such as Outlook 2007. Take advantage of this benefit and use Outlook 2007 for your email needs. Using Outlook 2007 allows you to check your email offline, as you do not need to sign in to your Windows Live Hotmail account. In addition, Outlook 2007 provides some attractive features, such as the ability to integrate tasks with the built-in calendar.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch Outlook 2007, click "Tools" and then select "Account settings" from the menu.

    • 2

Click on the "New" button, choose "Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP or HTTP" and then select "Next". The Auto Account Setup screen appears.

    • 3

Type your name, Windows Live Hotmail address, password and password again in the "Your Name", "Email Address", "Password" and "Retype Password" fields, respectively, and then select "Next". The Auto Account Setup Wizard retrieves the Windows Live Hotmail server settings.

    • 4

Wait for the Auto Account Setup Wizard to finalize the configuration, which should only take a few minutes, and then select "Finish" when the process completes. You can now send and receive emails in Outlook using your Windows Live Hotmail account.
