Web browsers such as Internet Explorer allow connections to websites.

Internet Explorer is a web browser designed by Microsoft. By default, many computers come with this web browser pre-installed as the primary web browser. But you may be on a computer that uses another browser automatically. Changing the settings within Internet Explorer allows you to make it the default, and any programs launching a web page or Internet connection will automatically use Internet Explorer to do so.

Instructions

    • 1

Double-click on the "Internet Explorer" icon on your desktop. If you do not see the icon (a blue "e"), click on "Start > All Programs." Browse for "Internet Explorer" and double-click on it.

    • 2

Locate the "Tools" menu in the top bar across the top of Internet Explorer. Select "Internet Options" from the drop-down menu that appears.

    • 3

Look for the "Programs" tab across the top of the "Internet Options" window and click on it once.

    • 4

Click on the "Make Default" button in the top section of the window that appears.

    • 5

Check off the box next to "Tell me if Internet Explorer is not the default web browser," and click "OK."
