How To Make Duck Tape Purses
A purse is a necessary accessory for many women. Purses hold wallets, money, makeup, lotion and a seemingly never-ending abundance of breath mints. Instead of spending a lot of money on a purse, make your own one-of-a-kind bag using Duck brand duct tape. Duck offers duct tape in several colors and patterns, making it easy to design a bag that fits your personality. Make purses as a craft project for a girl's birthday or slumber party, or make a bag to show off your design sense.
Instructions

Making the Purse
-
1
Cut five strips of Duck Tape, each about 14 inches long, to make a medium-size purse.
-
2
Lay one strip on a flat surface with the adhesive side facing up. Lay down the next strip, adhesive side up, so that it is parallel to and slightly overlapping the first strip. Continue laying down overlapping strips to create a piece of Duck Tape "fabric."
-
-
3
Cut another five strips of tape, each about 14 inches long.
-
4
Lay one strip, with the sticky side down, over and parallel to the top strip of the fabric. Lay down the next strip so that it slightly overlaps the first, with the adhesive side down. Repeat this for the rest of the strips to seal the adhesive within the Duck Tape fabric.
-
5
Trim the edges with scissors so that they are straight, with no scraggly ends.
-
6
Cut a strip of tape slightly longer than the short ends of the Duck Tape fabric. Cut or rip the piece in half vertically to make two thin strips.
-
7
Fold one thin piece of tape horizontally across one end of the tape fabric to seal it. Repeat on the fabric's other end and trim any excess tape with scissors.
-
8
Fold the Duck Tape fabric in half so that the two short ends touch. Do not crease the fold.
-
9
Tape the open ends on the right and left together with one or several strips of Duck Tape and trim the edges. Leave the top part of the purse open.
Making the Strap
-
10
Cut a piece of Duck Tape about 14 inches long, or longer if you prefer a long strap. Cut another piece of Duck Tape about 2 inches shorter than the first piece.
-
11
Lay the long piece of tape adhesive side up on a flat surface.
-
12
Lay the shorter piece of tape, sticky side down, over and parallel to the first piece of tape. Center the second piece over the first piece so that each end of the strap has a sticky tab about 1 inch long.
-
13
Stick one end of the strap over the crease at the top of the left side of the purse. Stick the other end of the strap over the crease at the top of the right side of the purse.
-
14
Place one or two small pieces of Duck Tape over the ends of the strap to secure them.

Tips & Warnings
For a larger purse, make the "fabric" out of more and longer Duck Tape strips. The size and length of the tape pieces is up to you.
Use different colored tape for each strip for a multi-colored purse.
Adorn the purse with stripes or other shapes made from Duck Tape.
Glue flat-back plastic gems over the outside of the purse for a jeweled look.
