Vacuuming a swimming pool is a major contributor to pool cleanliness. Vacuuming removes body waste and debris from the pool. Vacuuming works by pulling water and debris through the vacuum head into the vacuum hose. The debris and water travel through the hose into the pool's filter system or out through a waste line.   • Vacuum hose
  • Vacuum head
  • Duct tape

      Remove bends in the vacuum hose. Take the vacuum hose and spread it out on the ground. Straighten the hose and allow it to sit in direct sunlight for at least an hour to reset the memory of the hose and prevent folds or bends from occurring.

      Check for broken connections or cracked nipples. Examine the vacuum head for cracks. Check the top of the large nipple on top of the vacuum head. Examine the two small nipples on the vacuum head handle. Fix cracks with duct tape and replace the handle nipples with replacements as necessary.

      Remove debris from the vacuum hose. Take one end of the vacuum hose and fill it with water from a water hose. Slowly push the water hose further into the vacuum hose to dislodge any debris clogging the hose.

  • If none of these problems are present and your vacuum does not work, check to ensure you are priming the vacuum correctly.
