Making and printing Christmas cards online allows you the opportunity to create as many customized cards for as many people as you like. Use online templates---many of which are free---as springboards for your creativity. Combine personal photos, images supplied by the site and verses that move you. Rather than buying cards by the box, send Christmas cards to friends, colleagues and family that you created just for them.

Bring Christmas spirit and imagination together for creative Christmas cards. Select a site, such as Ivy Joy or American Greetings, which offer customizable and printable Christmas cards. Some sites, including Ivy Joy, require no registration or fee to access all of the functions. A site such as American Greetings allows you to customize your card, but you must register and pay a fee to print the finished product. Use design functions to make individualized Christmas cards.

Choose the card(s) you want to send. Click on a card to open the design template. American Greetings, for example, provides online tools to use custom fonts, text, photos and art.

Add pictures to an online greeting card template. Upload digital photos from your computer. Add images to any page of your card. Select the option to upload or add photos. Choose each picture from your local Pictures folder. Selected pictures will appear in the template for you to select and add to the card.

Choose from available fonts in the template. Sites, such as American Greetings and Ivy Joy, offer multiple fonts and font colors. Combine font styles and colors that complement the colors and style of your card. Comic Sans MS, for example, coordinates well with informal card images and messages. A handwriting font looks elegant on formal cards.

Select a greeting. If the site you use offers a template with an option to add your own greeting, such as a poem, you will have more choices. Some sites, such as Ivy Joy, provide a list of greetings from which to choose.

Print a Christmas card only you could have designed. Print your Christmas card creation. Once you have added all of the elements to your card, preview the finished product. Insert card stock into your printer. Most cards print on standard 8.5 by 11-inch pages. The pages are laid out for correct folding.
