After we graduate from our various schools, it becomes increasingly difficult to stay in constant contact with classmates or school buddies. We always intend to reach out or make a phone call, but as life happens we find ourselves out of touch with those we created significant memories. Thankfully, it is easier than ever to find and connect with old schoolmates. By simply making a few phone calls and using the Internet, former classmates can be located in no time at all. And by making the promise to keep in touch, you will not have to search for your friends anymore.

1. 

   Finding old schoolmates is easy.

   Call schoolmates with whom you've remained in contact. These schoolmates may have an idea how to find the person you're looking for or may even have current contact information. Utilizing this resource first could potentially save a great deal of time and effort.

2. Make Facebook a valuable tool. Facebook is a wonderful resource for finding friends, old and new. Because the system is comprehensive and members can do searches by schools, the year of graduation, and even college majors, it is possible to locate old schoolmates. However, the schoolmate has to be a Facebook member.

3. Contact your alma maters. Contacting your old schools for a current list of names from your graduating class or classes will provide you with more recent information on the person you're looking for. The school will be able to direct you to your class reunion committee or directly provide you with the information you need. This will also provide current name information just in case names have been changed.

   Using the computer facilitates your search.

   Use the Internet to search. Using the Internet will let you search worldwide. Find the results which match the person you're looking for most closely.

5. Narrow your search. After you've determined who could NOT be your friend, begin an Internet search, inputting specific information which describes your friend more closely. You want to be as specific as possible in order to limit the number of results and increase the possibility of finding your schoolmate. Focus on information like your friend's first, middle and last name, birthdate, and name of the school from which she graduated.

   Sending a quick note or letter could reconnect you with a long-lost friend.

   Send letters or make phone calls using the information that's been gathered. Now that you have as much information as possible on the person you're looking for, reach out by mail or phone. If you have several addresses, sending short notes or postcards is a quick and nonintrusive way of making contact. This method also cuts down on phone charges.
