Directions for How to Make Diaper Cakes
Diaper cakes look like cakes, but are made from baby diapers. Diaper cakes are a great centerpiece at baby showers. You can make a diaper cake as simple or elaborate as you'd like. Baby toys, baby accessories and miniature baby personal care items make great adornments to the cake. The great thing about diaper cakes is that each part will be used for the baby. For the eco-conscious mom, use cloth diapers instead of disposables.

1
Roll up the diapers into a cylinder shape. Tape the diaper shut and tie a ribbon around the diaper. This will ensure that the diaper holds its shape.
-
2
Arrange the diapers on the platter in the shape of a circle by placing the diapers vertically next to each other. Make the first layer almost the size of the platter and tie a ribbon around the entire first layer to help hold its shape. Continue this process to create cake layers, making each circle smaller as you go up.

Tips & Warnings
Buy different larger sized diapers for the bottom layer and smaller sized diapers for the upper layers. The new parents will appreciate having diapers for each stage of their child's growth.
Buy ribbon and decorations in coordinating colors and themes to provide a cohesive look to your diaper cake.
Some diapers have bright designs. Look for the simplest diapers you can find so the diaper colors do not disrupt the theme of your cake.
