How to Convert to Audiobook

You can listen to Audiobooks on your portable music player.

Audiobooks refer to any book that is recorded and can be played back. Audiobooks are available in CD format as well as digital audio file formats, such as MP3s. However, an iTunes Audiobook file format exists. This file format allows you to organize books by adding bookmarks and chapter markers. You can convert regular audio files, like MP3s, to the iTunes Audiobook format using iTunes.

Instructions

1. Launch iTunes. In Windows, click "Start," "All Program" and "iTunes." On a Mac, click the iTunes icon in your dock.

2. Click the "Music" tab in the upper-right corner of iTunes and locate the file you want to convert to an Audiobook.

3. Right-click a file you want to convert and select "Get Info." This opens a dialog box.

4. Click the "Options" tab at the top of the dialog box.

5. Click the drop-down menu next to "Media Kind" and select "Audiobook." Click "OK."

6. Enable Audiobook viewing. Click the "iTunes" menu and then select "Preferences." Click the check box next to "Audiobooks," and then click "OK." All of your Audiobooks now appear in a tab labeled "Audiobooks."
