How to Design a 3D Room for Free
When you draw an image of a room concept on paper, it's usually from the perspective of someone looking down at the floor of the room. It's hard to get a clear idea of how the room will actually look when someone walks in and looks around. That's why getting a 3-D perspective when designing the room is helpful: You may change your mind about the setup when looking at it from different angles. You can create a simple 3-D room concept using free online tools.

Use the Room Arranger software as one option. This is a simple software program (shareware) that you must download to your computer. The program allows you to add colorful furniture, floor types (such as carpeting or hardwood), windows and entryways to design a realistic room. When done, save the plan and select the option to view the room in 3-D. Use the program for free for 30 days, then register it if you want to continue using it for all of your room design needs.

Try the Floorplanner 3-D room designer. This is a browser-based tool that allows you to design your room in a 2-D view (looking down on the room from above) and then view it in 3D. You can also move the 3-D room around to examine it from different angles. Create a free account (the basic plan) and choose the option to create a new floor plan. Add elements to the room (including fixtures, furniture, windows and doors), save the design, and then click the "3D" view button to review your plan.

Visit the Architect Studio 3D online tool to create your 3-D room for free. You have to install the free Adobe Shockwave software to your computer first to use this online tool. Like the FloorPlanner tool, create the design in your browser. Add furnishings, windows, fixtures, and even a fireplace if you want. Save the plan then tour the room in 3-D.

Tips & Warnings
If the tool you choose doesn't allow you to download the saved floor plan, take a screenshot by pressing ALT+Print Scrn instead. You can then paste the picture into an image editing or layout program (like Adobe Photoshop or Microsoft Word).
