How to Convert Photoshop CS Brushes to PS 7

Adobe Photoshop is recognized as the industry standard photograph manipulation software and has been released in 27 languages. Originally developed in 1988, Photoshop released its12th edition under the re-branded moniker "Creative Suite 5" in 2010. Photoshop Brushes are designed to emulate paintbrushes, though with the advance of technology, their purpose has stretched beyond their physical counterparts. You can use brushes to paint with your mouse as you would with a paintbrush in your hand. With the exception of CS5 3-D brushes, you can transfer brush sets to different versions of Photoshop.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the Photoshop CS brushes folder on your hard drive. This is usually "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop x.x\Presets\Brushes."

    • 2

Select and copy the brushes from the Photoshop CS Brushes folder that you wish to use in other versions of Photoshop.

    • 3

Locate the older version of Photoshop on your hard drive, then navigate to the "Presets\Brushes" folder and paste them.

    • 4

Open the older version of Photoshop and your CS brushes will have automatically been added.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the brushes don't load automatically in Photoshop, in the Brushes menu panel, click the Right arrow and then choose "Load Brushes." Navigate to the Photoshop's brushes folder and double-click the brushes you wish to load.

  • Additional brush sets can easily be found online, with many websites offering free downloads.
