How to Program a VCR & Digital TV

Program a VCR and TV together.

VCRs play VHS tapes but also record programming from a live source. If you connect your digital programming source to your television via VCR, it is possible to capture any content you want. However, because the VCR receives the programming and not the television, you need to program the VCR and the digital television together so the VCR is capable of finding all the available stations.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect the coaxial cable running out of the antenna into the "In" port on the VCR. If you are using a digital cable or satellite receiver, no programming is required as you use the cable/satellite receiver to adjust the programming and not the VCR.

    • 2

Plug the RCA audio/video cables into the "Video Out" ports found on the rear of the VCR. Insert the opposite ends of the cables into the "Video In" ports on the digital television.

    • 3

Power on the television and the VCR. Press "Video" on the TV and the content from the VCR will appear on the screen.

    • 4

Press "Menu" on the VCR remote control, then select the television reception option.

    • 5

Choose "Channel Scan" and the VCR scans all stations the antenna receives. The stations it receives are stored into the memory of the VCR. The entire scan only takes a few minutes to complete.

    • 6

Press the "Channel Up" or "Channel Down" button on the VCR to adjust the station that appears on the television screen.
