How to Make a 3D Paper Reindeer
Children love the Christmas holiday, which is typically symbolized by images of Santa Claus, snowmen and reindeer flying through the air. One way to help children celebrate the winter holidays is to create a 3-D reindeer craft that is created with simple materials, such as paper plates and plastic forks. Most of the materials needed to create a 3-D reindeer can be found around the house.
Things You'll Need
- 2 paper plates
- 4 plastic forks
- Brown craft paint
- Paintbrush
- Stapler
- Duct tape
- 2 googly eyes
- Red or black pompom
- Craft glue
- Brown construction paper
Instructions

1
Fold a paper plate in half. Fold the corners of the folded plate towards the center, creating a wedge, and staple them together. Place the folded paper plate onto a flat surface with the folded side down and the point of the wedge at the top.
-
2
Fold a second paper plate in half, and staple it so that it stays folded. Place the second paper plate fold side down onto a flat surface next to the first paper plate.

3
Line up the corner of the second plate with the middle of the side of the first plate. Work the stapler inside the folded wedge of the first plate and staple the right side of the plate to the left edge of second folded plate, near the fold. Adjust the wedge-shaped plate (the reindeer's head) so it bows out from the second plate (the body).
-
4
Paint the front of the paper plates with a medium brown craft. Allow the paint to dry completely.
-
5
Tape four plastic forks behind the first paper plate--two on each side--so the prongs stick out of the top. These will be the antlers of the reindeer.
-
6
Cut out four legs for your reindeer from brown construction paper. Glue to the body.
-
7
Glue two googly eyes and the red or black pompom nose to the front of the first paper plate. You can now hang up your 3-D reindeer for the holidays.
